For the first time in China, a new technology of ultra long distance hard rock top pipe construction has been adopted for the Chongqing Guanjingkou Water Conservancy Hub Project. As one of the 172 key water-saving and water supply major water conservancy projects determined by the State Council, this project shoulders an important construction mission. China Railway 18th Bureau has undertaken a challenging construction task of 16300 meters. In order to ensure efficient progress of the project, four hard rock pipe jacking machines have been specially introduced for construction operations. During the construction process, the team faced a series of complex geological challenges such as underground water inrush, weak interlayers, fractured faults, and karst caves. However, with their professional skills and firm determination, they successfully overcame these difficulties and ensured the smooth progress of the project.
