On March 30, 2024, PLN NP, a subsidiary of Indonesia's National Power Company, officially announced that Guodian Power, a subsidiary of China's National Energy Group, successfully won the bid for the 100,000 kilowatt floating photovoltaic power station project of Indonesia's Karangkades.
The project is located in the Karangkates Dam in Malang City, East Java Province, Indonesia, with a planned installed capacity of 100,000 kilowatts, which is currently the second largest centralized photovoltaic power plant project in Indonesia and is planned to be put into commercial operation in 2026.
The winning bid is the first overseas photovoltaic power station investment project of the National Energy Group, and the first time that a Chinese enterprise won the bid for the concentrated photovoltaic IPP project in Indonesia.
After the project is put into operation, it is expected to supply 212 million KWH of clean electricity to Indonesia every year, while saving about 61,400 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 168,300 tons. For Indonesia, the project will not only help it achieve its goal of carbon neutrality by 2060, but also optimize its energy mix and promote sustainable development. In addition, the project also has far-reaching strategic significance for bilateral energy industry cooperation and regional economic development between China and Indonesia, injecting new vitality into the cooperation between the two sides.
