A grand opening ceremony was held in the Green Energy Chemical Industrial Park in western Jilin, marking the official launch of China's first large-scale green methanol project - Shanghai Electric Taonan City Wind Power Coupled Biomass Green Methanol Integrated Demonstration Project. As a tens-billion-level key project in Jilin Province, this project is not only a key part of the strategic layout of hydrogen-powered Jilin and Jilin's hydrogen entering the sea, but also an important part of the country's first batch of green power hydrogen production on-site consumption demonstration projects.
It is reported that the total investment of the project is expected to reach 22.4 billion yuan and will be implemented in three phases. After the project is fully completed, it will achieve the ambitious goal of producing one million tons of green methanol per year. At present, the first phase of the project has been launched, with an estimated investment of 5.6 billion yuan, mainly to build a 250,000-ton wind power coupled biomass-to-green methanol integrated project. The project will also support the construction of 680,000 kilowatts of new energy facilities to achieve spontaneous self-use of energy and light grid connection, aiming to improve energy utilization efficiency. The core goal of Shanghai Electric Group's investment project in Taonan is to build an industrial chain integrating green new energy and green chemicals. Through this innovative initiative, the project aims to explore and realize new technological routes and business models for large-scale green electricity consumption.
