Recently, the Mulei South 750 kV power transmission and transformation project, a high-profile key project in Xinjiang, has officially started construction. This project is not only an important milestone in Xinjiang power grid construction, but also a key measure to promote the development and construction of new energy and promote local economic and social development.

Mulei South 750 kV power transmission and transformation project is located in Mulei County, Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang, with a dynamic investment of 1.213 billion yuan. The project includes the construction of a new 750 kV substation in Mulei South, and a new line length of 68.4 kilometers. It is expected that the project will be fully completed and put into operation by the end of December this year. By then, it will not only meet the demand for collection and delivery of new energy projects in Mulei County, but will also effectively promote the growth of Xinjiang's new energy industry and inject strong impetus into the high-quality development of the local economy.

The construction background of this project is closely connected with Xinjiang’s new energy development plan. In recent years, the country has vigorously implemented the planning and layout plan and construction list of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic bases focusing on desert, Gobi, and desert areas. As a region rich in new energy, Xinjiang has actively responded to the national call and formulated an implementation plan for the Gurbantunggut Desert Base, planning to develop 5,000 megawatts of new energy projects. The construction of Mulei South 750 kV power transmission and transformation project is precisely to meet the access and transmission needs of these new energy projects.

It is worth mentioning that Mulei County is rich in light and wind resources and has huge development potential. In order to make full use of these renewable energies, the Mulei South 750 kV power transmission and transformation project has installed photovoltaic panels in the station, making it the first 750 kV substation project in Xinjiang to install photovoltaics. This innovative move not only improves the environmental performance of the project, but also adds new highlights to it.

State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power plans to build a series of ultra-high voltage and ultra-high voltage power grid projects in the next few years, and the total scale will reach the highest value in history. This marks that Xinjiang Power Grid has officially entered a new stage of development characterized by large-scale, high-intensity, and high-quality. It is expected that between 2024 and 2025, Xinjiang will add multiple internal supply ring networks and external delivery channels, forming a more complete main network structure with seven internal supply ring networks and six external delivery channels. This pattern will provide strong energy support and motivation for Xinjiang’s economic development.Editor/Cheng Liting
