Construction of Seville Metro Line 3 starts in Spain

Officials from the Spanish government and the Andalusian regional government have officially launched the construction of the northern section of Seville Metro Line 3 from Pino Montano Norte to Los Mares.

The event took place on April 8, 2024, with the President of the Government Pedro Sánchez, the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Transport Oscar Puente, the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda Isabel Rodriguez and the President of the Government of Andalusia Juan Ma Moreno attended the event.

The total cost of the project is 1.3 billion euros, of which the Spanish government is responsible for 50%, providing 650 million euros, according to an agreement signed with the military government of Andalusia in early 2023.

The new section of Seville Metro Line 3 consists of a double-track line, mainly underground, with a total length of about 7.5 kilometers, 12 stations, 11 of which are underground, and a 1.3-kilometer technical branch line that will Lines connect to workshops and depot facilities. The northern section starts in the northern area of the city, adjacent to the SE-20 motorway in Pino Montano, and extends to the Prado de San Sebastian area, where it will connect with Line 1.

Residents of Pino Montano, north of Seville, will have access to three metro stations between the Brenes highway and the Los Mares neighborhood. The new line will pass through the Macarina Hospital, historic Ronda and Cappuccinos to the center of Seville.

In 2023, Lantania and DSV Constructora y Ferroviaria will start construction of the technical branch under a €6.4 million contract.
