On April 11, 2024, the Shanghai Rail Transit Chongming Line Chenjiazhen Station ushered in a new starting point for construction. The first underground diaphragm wall steel cage was successfully lifted and troughed, marking the official start of construction of this portal station. Chenjia Town Station is located at the intersection of Chentong Road and Chennan Highway planned in Chenjia Town, Chongming District. As the first station on Chongming Island, it will become an important distribution center for transportation on the island in the future, providing passengers with a convenient travel experience. Since entering the site in December 2023, Shanghai Metro has organized all participating units to strictly control the construction quality to ensure that the design and specification requirements are met. In the future, all participating units will continue to adhere to the principles of safety first and quality first and make every effort to promote construction tasks.

As a rapid urban line connecting Chongming District with the central city of Shanghai, the Chongming Line passes through Chongming Island, Changxing Island and Pudong New Area. Its construction will inject strong impetus into the development of Chongming. As an important node of the line, Chenjiazhen Station is designed as a station with two underground floors and one island on one side. The main body is arranged along the north-south direction of Chentong Road and crosses the Chennan Highway. The main body of the station is large in scale. It adopts the design of two underground floors and an island on one side, with an internal clear length of 415.5 meters and an internal clear width of 29.6 meters.

The Chongming Line has a total of 8 stations, 5 intermediate air shafts (including large and small shield conversion sections) and 2 parking lots. At present, the main structures of Gaobao Road Station and the two large and small shield tunnel conversion sections have been successfully capped, and foundation pit excavation work is in full swing at four stations including Jinji Road Station, Shenjiang Road Station, Lingkong North Road Station, and Dongtan Station. Changxingdao Station has entered the stage of structural restoration construction, while Chenjiazhen Station has also officially started ground wall construction recently. In addition, the construction of two parking lots is also progressing simultaneously, and the pile foundation construction is progressing smoothly.

In terms of shield propulsion, a total of three shield machines are operating at full capacity on the Chongming Line. Among them, the Nangang Shield has advanced to a total of 3,131 rings, with a completion rate of approximately 81%; the Beigang Shield has completed a total of 2,689 rings, with a completion rate of approximately 60%. It is worth mentioning that the section from Changxing Island Station to the 2# large and small shield transfer shaft has been connected with two lines, laying a solid foundation for the smooth advancement of the line. The upstream line from Changxing Island Station to the 1# large and small shield conversion shaft has also advanced 35 rounds in total, with a remarkable completion rate. The downline shield is scheduled to officially start in late April.
