On April 14, 2024, the construction of the Tongtian River Basin Water Source Conservation and Ecological Protection and Restoration Project in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, located on the Tongtian River in Chengduo County, officially kicked off. The project, with a total investment of 807 million yuan, aims to comprehensively improve the ecological environment of the Tongtian River Basin through a series of measures and provide solid ecological support for the sustainable development of the local and even the entire region.

The project plans to implement 11,600 hectares of land greening, 138,000 hectares of grassland purification, 617,000 hectares of fencing, and 22,000 hectares of sand fixation. This huge project will cover 21 towns and cities in one city and three counties in the Tongtian River Basin, including Yushu City, Chengduo County, Qumalai County, and Zhiduo County, involving 410 specific implementation points.

During the project implementation process, we will focus on practical issues that have been dealt with repeatedly and adhere to the principles of problem orientation, technology empowerment, and resource integration. Especially in areas of different sizes such as Zhiduo County, Qumalai County, Chengduo County Jiatang, and Longbao Nature Reserve, four black soil beach restoration and management model areas will be piloted to form a model area that can be replicated and promoted through exploration and practice. governance model.

In addition, the project will also take comprehensive measures such as backfilling sand pits, planting grass and greening, and sealing and management to address the grassland purification problems along the highway from Erdaogou Military Station to Zhiduo County and the highway from Qingshui River to Qumalai County. 105 areas totaling 220 hectares were treated and restored.

In order to ensure the smooth implementation and efficient advancement of the project, the project party has also established a complete package supervision service mechanism. The mechanism includes state-level leaders Baoxian, county-level leaders Baoxiang, professional and technical personnel from the Yushu Prefecture Forestry and Grassland Comprehensive Service Center for on-site supervision, and technical guidance services from an expert team. Through this mechanism, the project party will deepen comprehensive coordination services and supervision and management work to ensure that the project is promoted safely, orderly and efficiently.

The implementation of this project will not only effectively improve the ecological environment quality of the Tongtian River Basin and enhance water conservation capabilities, but will also create a better living environment for local people and promote the coordinated development of economic society and the ecological environment.
