On April 16, 2024, the high-standard farmland supporting water conservancy facilities project in Dongli District, Tianjin officially broke ground, marking a major breakthrough in the agricultural development of this region. This 18,600-acre farmland located in Huaming Street is not only the largest contiguous farmland in Dongli District, but also an important base for increasing agricultural production and efficiency in the future.

This high-standard farmland improvement and reconstruction project aims to greatly enhance the comprehensive production capacity of farmland through scientific planning and precise construction. It is expected that grain output per mu can increase by 10% to 20%. This result will bring tangible economic benefits to local farmers and further stimulate their enthusiasm for developing modern agriculture.

In the construction of water conservancy facilities, it is particularly worth mentioning the new construction of salt discharge pipelines and anti-seepage ditches. These facilities will effectively reduce the salinity of the soil and create a more suitable environment for crop growth. At the same time, by optimizing water resource allocation and improving irrigation efficiency, sustainable agricultural development will be further promoted.

It is reported that the total investment in the project reached 57 million yuan, of which central government bond funds accounted for more than 70%, showing that the country attaches great importance to and strongly supports the construction of agricultural infrastructure. This fund will be mainly used for the improvement and renovation of farmland infrastructure and the addition of intelligent facilities to improve the ability of farmland to withstand natural disasters.

In 2024, Tianjin plans to complete the construction, renovation and upgrade of 570,000 acres of high-standard farmland, of which 400,000 acres are new government bond issuance projects. These projects will further improve Tianjin’s agricultural production level and promote the agricultural modernization process. It is expected that all high-standard farmland will be completed and put into use by the end of November, bringing a better life to local farmers.

With the completion of these high-standard farmland supporting water conservancy facilities, agricultural production in Dongli District, Tianjin will usher in new development opportunities.Editor/Cheng Liting
