Mahindra Susten, the renewable energy arm of the Mahindra Group, will develop a 150 MW hybrid wind-solar project for offtake by commercial and industrial customers. The total project cost is approximately INR 12 billion.
Mahindra and Mahindra Group announced that it will develop a 150 MW hybrid solar + wind power plant at a total project cost of approximately INR 1,200 crore. The project will be developed by its renewable energy arm Mahindra Susten, with Canadian investor Ontario Teachers Pension Plan Board serving as a strategic partner.
The installation will include 101 MW of wind capacity and 52 MW of solar capacity and is expected to generate 460 million kilowatt-hours of energy and save an estimated 420,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
The project marks Mahindra Susten’s foray into “hybrid renewable energy” and will be one of the largest solar+wind hybrid projects in Maharashtra, providing clean energy to commercial and industrial customers. It is scheduled to be commissioned within the next two years and will incorporate more than 80% locally manufactured components.
M&M's Automotive and Farm business has contracts for 41.20 MW of wind and 25.90 MW of solar in the project, which will generate 197 million kWh of energy per year and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 184,000 tonnes. The project is expected to increase M&M's renewable energy share from 34% in FY23 to 60% in FY26.Editor/Zhao E
