Recently, a review meeting for the special report consultation on the hub layout pattern study, the special report on the general construction layout planning, and the special report on the normal water storage level selection during the feasibility study phase of the Xinjiang Dabancheng pumped storage power station was held in Urumqi.

The power station is located in Dabancheng District, Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the straight-line distance from Urumqi City is about 85km. The hub project mainly consists of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water transmission system, underground factory building and ground switch station. The upper reservoir is located at the head of the Hakesayi ditch on the left bank of the Gaoyazi River. It is formed by excavation and damming to expand the reservoir; the lower reservoir is located in the main channel of the Gaoyazi River.

The Dabancheng Pumped Storage Power Station is a key implementation project of the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the "Pumped Storage Medium and Long-term Development Plan (2021-2035)". The power station has an installed capacity of 1,400MW, a rated water head of 520m, and a distance-to-height ratio of about 5.5. After the power station is completed, it will undertake tasks such as peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency backup of the power system.Editor/Zhao E
