Recently, European start-up Statevolt announced that it will spend US$3.2 billion to build a cutting-edge battery super factory in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. This project marks Statevolt’s important presence in the global energy storage market to meet the rapidly growing global demand for energy storage solutions.

The factory will adopt a modular design and will mainly produce semi-solid-state batteries initially, and will shift to the production of all-solid-state batteries after reaching full capacity. When fully operational, annual production capacity is expected to reach 40GWh. The project is located in the Al Hamra Industrial Zone in RAKEZ, UAE, covering an area of approximately 60 hectares and is expected to create approximately 2,500 direct jobs locally.

Statevolt has reached cooperation with RAKEZ and is actively applying for construction permits after completing the land agreement, with the goal of putting the first production line into operation by the end of 2026. Lars Carlstrom, the company’s founder and CEO, said that the establishment of this gigafactory is aimed at meeting the urgent needs for energy storage solutions in Africa, India, the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East, while strengthening Statevolt’s presence in the fields of global energy transition and sustainable energy management. leadership position.

Statevolt is a start-up company focused on developing and building advanced battery gigafactories, committed to supporting the future development of clean energy. Its founder, Lars Carlstrom, has extensive experience in battery manufacturing and has successfully founded and led two well-known companies, Italvolt and Britishvolt.

In 2022, Statevolt announced that it would invest US$4 billion to build a 54GWh battery factory in Imperial Valley, California, USA, which is expected to provide batteries for approximately 650,000 electric vehicles. In addition, Italvolt and Britishvolt are also building large-scale battery factories in Italy and the UK respectively to support the green industrialization process in Europe and the world.

This new investment plan by Statevolt once again demonstrates its ambition and strength in the global battery manufacturing field and will inject new impetus into the development of the global clean energy and electric vehicle industries.Editor/Cheng Liting
