Recently, China Energy Construction Shanxi Electric Power Construction won the bid for the medium voltage distribution network project in the northwest region of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This project is China Energy's first large-scale medium voltage distribution network project in Ethiopia.

The project is located in the northern part of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The scope of Shanxi Electric Power Construction includes the installation of 1250 new distribution transformers, renovation and upgrading of 1300 distribution transformers, installation of 2550 new distribution boxes, construction of 380 kilometers of overhead distribution lines and 39 medium voltage lines.
