At the invitation of the Chinese President, President Obiang is paying a state visit to China. This video link is a special arrangement in the schedule of President Obiang's visit to China.
Why is the president of an African country meeting with teachers and students of a primary school in China's southwest border by video?
The story starts nine years ago.
More than a year later, a new teaching building with 5 floors, 20 classrooms, 10 bathrooms, 5 offices and a total area of about 2530 square meters was completed and put into use. Deep in the mountains, children have better learning conditions.
In order to express the deep friendship between the two countries, the primary school has a new name - China-Equatorial Guinea Friendship Primary School. In nine years, more than 2,000 children have graduated from the school.
On the table next to President Obiang, a letter from a sixth-grader at Friendship Primary School was unrolled. "We are the direct beneficiaries of the sincere friendship between China and Equatorial Guinea." The children wrote in the letter that they would work hard to learn scientific and cultural knowledge and become small emissaries for friendly exchanges between the two countries. President Obiang expressed his hope that the children will become valuable members of society in the future.
It is impressive that a head of state from a central and western African country has taken the initiative to help China's local development. Such a heart-to-heart relationship stems from China's long-term sincere treatment of its African brothers, including Equatorial Guinea.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties more than half a century ago, China and Equatorial Guinea have always treated each other as equals, respected and supported each other, and enjoy a profound traditional friendship.
Since 1971, China has sent 33 medical teams with more than 600 personnel to Equatorial Guinea, contributing to the protection of local people's health. Equatorial Guinea donated 2 million euros in 2008 when China was hit by a devastating earthquake... Entering the new era, the two countries have actively synergized their development strategies and conducted effective practical cooperation in infrastructure construction, technical assistance and other fields, bringing benefits to the two peoples.
"We are very proud to see that the seeds of friendship planted in the China-Equatorial Guinea Friendship Primary School are bearing fruit." President Obiang said in a video link.
As an old friend of the Chinese people, President Obiang has visited China more than 10 times. Not long ago, he lamented: "It can be said that the cooperation between the two countries has changed the face of Equatorial Guinea to a certain extent." Editor/Wang Tian
