In recent years, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has made significant progress in ecological protection and restoration supervision, and has initially established a comprehensive and efficient ecological protection and restoration supervision system. The core of this system is to adhere to the unification of the four aspects of policy and regulation standard formulation, monitoring and evaluation, supervision and enforcement, and inspection and accountability.
The formulation of policies, regulations and standards provides a solid legal basis and technical guidance for ecological protection and restoration work. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment ensures the standardization and scientific nature of the work by formulating and improving relevant policies, regulations and standards.
Monitoring and evaluation is an important link in the regulatory system. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment has established a five-year national ecological status survey and assessment mechanism, and conducts ecological status assessments for specific regions every year. In addition, for major ecological restoration projects, special ecological and environmental effectiveness assessments have been carried out to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the restoration work.
The Ministry of Ecology and Environment has strengthened its supervision of ecological protection and restoration issues. Through the implementation of special actions such as Green Shield 2023, supervision of key areas such as nature reserves has been strengthened. At the same time, together with relevant departments, we conducted joint inspections of 65 nature reserves in 12 provinces and autonomous regions including Jiangsu, and conducted verification and investigation on the rectification progress of key issues in 69 nature reserves in 15 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities including Jilin. These measures have effectively promoted the rectification of problems and the in-depth progress of ecological restoration work.
Supervision accountability is a key link in ensuring the effective operation of the regulatory system. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment has established an inspection and accountability mechanism to hold accountable departments and units that fail to perform their ecological protection and restoration responsibilities, thereby strengthening responsibility awareness and work effectiveness.Editor/Cheng Ting
