From November 22nd to 24th, the 2024 World Forestry Conference was held in Nanning, Guangxi. During the conference, the 2024 Rubber Wood Global Industry Chain Innovation and Development Matchmaking Meeting was held. At the meeting, the Thai Rubber Wood Industry Association and Guangxi Tongzhou Holdings Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation framework agreement for the Beibu Gulf Reserve Base of Rubber Wood International Raw Materials, strengthening cooperation in the rubber wood industry.

Rubber wood is widely planted in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, and is a green, low-carbon, and sustainable wood used in solid wood furniture, customized home furnishings, and other fields. It has become the largest single category of imported broad-leaved sawn timber in China, accounting for nearly 50% and showing a continuous growth trend. From January to September this year, China imported approximately 3.83 million cubic meters of rubber wood saw materials, a year-on-year increase of 15.8%.

At the 2024 World Forest Products and Wood Products Exhibition held concurrently with the conference, Thailand was invited for the first time to build a national pavilion in the International Forestry Image Hall.

Thai exhibitor Rapatalada Fakan, who is visiting China for the first time, introduced that she comes from a local woodworking community in Thailand and showcases handmade wooden furniture and other products made from recycled old wood. During the exhibition, she witnessed traditional Chinese woodcarving and other techniques, and with the help of the exhibition format, Thai Chinese woodworking craftsmen were able to communicate face-to-face.

Rapatalada Fakan believes that China's hosting of wooden product exhibitions provides a platform for showcasing Thai handmade wooden products and attracts attention to Thai woodworking craftsmen.

According to statistics, in 2023, the total output value of Guangxi's forestry industry will reach 956.9 billion yuan, with the area of artificial forests, timber production, and artificial board production ranking first in China.
