On June 3, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Caoling Reservoir Risk Removal and Reinforcement Project was held in Dashankou Village, Taoxu Town, Jianghua Yao Autonomous County. An Qing, member of the Standing Committee of the Jianghua County Party Committee and deputy county magistrate, visited the scene to kick off this major project related to people's livelihood and well-being.

Caoling Reservoir, located on the tributary of Mengzhushui in Dashankou Village, Taoxu Town, is not only the only medium-sized water conservancy and hydropower hub in Jianghua Yao Autonomous County with irrigation as its main function, but also takes into account power generation. Its total storage capacity is 11.987 million cubic meters. Since its construction started in August 1966 and was completed and put into operation in March 1972, it has made great contributions to local agricultural production and power supply.

However, with the passage of time and continuous use, the water retaining, water discharge and water delivery buildings of the reservoir gradually showed problems such as aging, damage and leakage, posing a serious threat to the safe operation of the reservoir. In order to ensure the continuous and stable operation of the reservoir and give full play to its benefits in irrigation and power generation, a new round of risk elimination and reinforcement projects is imperative.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy County Mayor An Qing put forward clear requirements for the risk elimination and reinforcement project of Caoling Reservoir. He emphasized that the construction of the project must be carried out strictly in accordance with the infrastructure procedures, strictly control safety and quality, and ensure that every construction link meets the requirements of the specifications. At the same time, he asked the construction unit to efficiently promote the construction of the project according to the time node, ensure that the risk elimination and reinforcement project of Caoling Reservoir can be completed on time, and provide solid guarantees for the local economic and social development.

The launch of the risk elimination and reinforcement project of Caoling Reservoir marks another solid step forward in the construction of water conservancy infrastructure in Jianghua Yao Autonomous County.
