Recently, the Guazhou County Donghu Regulating Reservoir Project undertaken by the Hydropower Engineering Bureau of Gansu Water Investment Group has started construction in a grand manner amid the attention of the public. Leaders at all levels of Guazhou County and representatives of all participating units gathered together to witness this historic moment. The launch of this project marks a solid step forward for Guazhou County in solving the problem of agricultural irrigation water and improving the efficiency of water resources management.

In recent years, the effective storage capacity of the Shuangta Reservoir in Guazhou County has been greatly reduced due to severe siltation, resulting in limited storage capacity during the main flood season, which directly affects the normal irrigation of crops in the irrigation area, and thus affects the stability of agricultural production and the growth of farmers' income. In order to effectively respond to this challenge, improve the water supply guarantee capacity of the irrigation area, and promote the increase of crop production and income, the Guazhou County Government has a far-sighted vision and decided to plan and build the Donghu Regulating Reservoir Project on the east side of the county seat.

The total investment of the project is about 88 million yuan, and the planned construction period is 366 days. Its core content includes the construction of an injection-type regulating reservoir with a total capacity of 1.6 million cubic meters, and the construction of key facilities such as water diversion and water withdrawal. The project is not only large-scale, but also carries the deep expectations of the people in the irrigation area for stable water sources and good harvests. It is also an important part of Guazhou County to accelerate the promotion of the "vegetable basket" project, consolidate agricultural infrastructure, and help rural revitalization. After the completion of the Donghu Regulating Reservoir, it will make full use of the water resources of the Shuangta Reservoir during the abandonment period, divert water through the Beigan Canal, and use the reservoir's regulating capacity to effectively alleviate the water shortage of about 20,000 acres of farmland in the Beigan Canal irrigation area during the peak irrigation period in summer, providing a solid water guarantee for the thriving growth of crops.Editor/Cheng Ting
