On June 12, 2024, Kashgar City, Xinjiang ushered in the groundbreaking ceremony of JD Logistics’ Kashgar Smart Logistics Port project. The project was jointly built by the Kashgar Municipal People's Government, JD Logistics Group and Kashgar Xinguang Smart Logistics Co., Ltd., marking the official launch of the construction of the first large-scale 5G digital integrated logistics park in southern Xinjiang.

The logistics port will use advanced 5G technology to build a modern comprehensive logistics park integrating intelligence, automation and informatization. After completion, it will not only meet the demand for trade logistics services in Kashgar and surrounding areas, but also build a pre-export supply chain service network for Central and South Asia to promote the prosperity and development of regional trade.

Ling Yijie, chairman of Kashgar Xinguang Smart Logistics Co., Ltd., said that the implementation of JD Logistics’ Kashgar Smart Logistics Port project is expected to significantly improve the e-commerce logistics timeliness in Kashgar and surrounding areas, shortening the transportation time by at least one day. This will greatly improve the shopping experience of local consumers and enhance the service level of merchants. It will also shorten the long-distance freight process for trade customers in Central Asia and South Asia and improve the overall logistics efficiency.

The project is divided into three phases for construction. The first phase of the project started in June this year and is scheduled to be completed in December. This highly efficient construction cycle will achieve the goals of project establishment, construction, delivery and operation in the same year. The annual output value of the project is expected to reach 30 million yuan. Once fully completed and put into operation, it is expected to create more than 1,000 local jobs and inject new vitality into the economic development of Kashgar City.Editor/Cheng Ting
