Under the wave of green transformation in the infrastructure industry led by the "dual carbon" goal, another landmark project has officially landed. Recently, a consortium led by China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (including China Railway Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Guosheng Design Co., Ltd.) successfully won the bid for the Hunan Province zero carbon smart logistics demonstration project with a total investment of 3.35 billion yuan. This heavyweight news not only sets a new record for the scale of regional green logistics infrastructure, but also indicates that the new generation of infrastructure model centered on "zero carbon" and "wisdom" is moving from blueprint to reality.

It is reported that the project is located in Xiangyin County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province. The total construction period is tentatively set at 1825 calendar days, divided into three phases with a total investment of 3.35 billion yuan. The goal is to create a fully chain, replicable building zero carbon smart logistics demonstration park.

The first phase of the project (with an investment of approximately 693 million yuan) will lay the hardware foundation for the project, focusing on the construction of a new energy shared highway port, headquarters research and development building base, production workshops, and related supporting living facilities, with a total construction area of 61701 square meters. The core task of this stage is to build the basic framework of the logistics hub and highlight the shared application of "new energy" in the transportation process.

The second phase of the project (with an investment of approximately 1.757 billion yuan) will delve into the green core of the project, focusing on the construction of building green transportation and intelligent transportation bases, and introducing distributed clean energy systems such as wind power generation and energy storage. This measure means that the park will achieve partial self-sufficiency and efficient regulation of energy, truly reducing carbon emissions from the source. At the same time, the continuous construction of the smart logistics base will further improve operational efficiency.

The third phase of the project (with an investment of approximately 900 million yuan) will focus on the digital and intelligent upgrading of the industry, mainly constructing a smart logistics base (Phase II), urban supply and distribution center, digital supply chain base, etc. At that time, a modern logistics hub integrating smart warehousing, urban distribution, and supply chain services will be fully formed.

From the publicly available construction scope, this project is a typical complex large-scale comprehensive project. The construction content almost covers the entire field of infrastructure: from early earthwork and foundation pit support, to the main building engineering (including reinforced concrete structures and steel structures), to fine indoor and outdoor decoration and comprehensive installation engineering (water supply and drainage, electrical, fire protection, HVAC, weak current, elevators, etc.), as well as permanent projects such as outdoor ancillary, civil defense, landscape greening, etc., and also includes temporary projects serving the construction. This "all rounder" engineering requirement is precisely the embodiment of the core competitiveness of large infrastructure state-owned enterprises such as China Railway Construction.

This winning bid is not an isolated case. In recent years, the policy direction for promoting the green and intelligent upgrading of transportation and logistics infrastructure has become increasingly clear from the national to local levels. Traditional logistics parks are evolving from simple warehousing and transportation nodes to comprehensive service platforms that integrate new energy, digitization, and supply chain management. Keywords: infrastructure, infrastructure construction

The project won by China Railway Construction Corporation accurately captures this trend of transformation. It is not just a traditional road and port construction project, but also a comprehensive demonstration platform that integrates advanced concepts such as green buildings, distributed energy (wind and storage), smart transportation, and digital supply chain. Its implementation provides a concrete blueprint for the development of China's infrastructure industry on the new dual carbon track, indicating that the competition for large-scale infrastructure projects in the future will shift from a single cost and schedule to a comprehensive value competition of green, smart, sustainable, and other aspects.Editor/Cheng Liting
