On June 12, 2024, China Energy Construction Jiangsu Institute, as the EPC general contractor, successfully completed all the completion acceptance work of the photovoltaic power generation project of Eastern Expressway and Ningjingyan Expressway, the largest capacity of the energy integration project in Jiangsu. This milestone achievement marks that the four cities and eight stations have reached high standards of quality requirements, setting a new benchmark for green, low-carbon, environmental protection and energy saving for the highway industry, and demonstrating China's excellent strength and innovation ability in the field of new energy construction.
The project spans the four administrative regions of Yangzhou, Taizhou, Yancheng and Lianyungang, realizing the innovative integration of high-speed road network and photovoltaic application. The project cleverly makes use of the abundant resources along the Qiyang Expressway, Ningjingyan Expressway and Changshen Expressway in Jiangsu Province, including toll stations, building roofs and other areas with construction conditions, to build a distributed photovoltaic power station. Through this initiative, the project successfully built a clean energy supply and consumption system, and realized the continuous supply of green power to the service area and toll station in the road area. This practice not only demonstrates China's wisdom and strength in new energy utilization, but also provides a new direction and sample for the green development of future expressways.
After the completion of the project, its annual power generation will reach 28 million KWH, and the photovoltaic power generation generated by these road sections will be fully transmitted to the national grid, injecting green energy into the power supply. Compared with a thermal power plant of the same power generation, the project can significantly save the consumption of about 0.84 million tons of standard coal per year, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 21,000 tons. This achievement not only optimizes resource utilization and promotes the development of green energy, but also contributes to the construction of a resource-intensive, green and environmentally friendly highway network, contributing significantly to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
