The climate of Nimu County is distinct in four seasons and the annual precipitation is less, so the local water demand and the development of water resources are not balanced. Recently, the Feasibility Study Report of the Pagu Reservoir Project in Nimu County, Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region has been approved by the Ministry of Water Resources, laying a foundation for further construction.
Pagu Reservoir Project is located on Pabuqu, a secondary tributary of the left bank of Qiongmuqu in the upper reaches of Nimu Maqu in Nim County, Lhasa. The dam site is about 12 kilometers away from Pagu Township and 33 kilometers away from Nimu County. The watershed area is 114 square kilometers. The project grade is Ⅲ and other medium-sized, and the project development tasks are urban and rural life and industrial water supply, agricultural irrigation, and protection of the ecological base flow of the downstream river. The total storage capacity of the reservoir is 13.67 million cubic meters, Xingli storage capacity is 11.91 million cubic meters, the average water supply for many years is 9.44 million cubic meters, the designed irrigation area is 40,800 mu, and the project approval investment is 747 million yuan.

This project is the backbone water source project recommended in the "Comprehensive Planning of the Nimamaqu Basin in the Tibet Autonomous Region" and has been included in the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan for National Water Conservancy Reform and Development".
After the completion of the reservoir, it will provide a reliable water source for local residents, solve the domestic production water and agricultural irrigation, and the construction of the project will play an important role in improving the living standards of farmers and herdsmen and promoting the sustainable development of the local economy.
