On June 20, 2024, the Taizhou Jiangyan section of the Shengchan River Management Project, a major water conservancy project in Jiangsu Province, ushered in the grand moment of full construction. This milestone progress marks that Jiangsu Province has taken another solid step in environmental protection and water resources management.

Taizhou City's Shengchan River Management Project, as a key small and medium-sized river management project in Jiangsu Province, spans two major areas of Jiangyan District and Gaogang District. In Jiangyan District, the project focuses on the Tongnan area, covering several important areas such as Zhangdian Town, Gugao Town and Liangxu Street. The core tasks of the project include deep dredging of the river channel, with a total length of 19.741 kilometers, to ensure unimpeded water flow. A new 39.7-kilometer-long revetment facility will be built on both sides of the river to enhance the stability and safety of the river channel. In order to further optimize the ecological environment, soil and water conservation and greening projects will also be implemented to improve the ecological quality of the areas around the river channel and create a more livable ecological environment.

The bidding for the Jiangyan section of the Taizhou Shengchan River Management Project was successfully completed in April 2024, and the project was carefully divided into four sections for implementation. At present, all construction units have fully entered the construction site and started intensive operations. Zhangdian Town, Gugao Town and Liangxu Street are actively coordinating and making every effort to promote preliminary work such as land acquisition and bank slope clearance to ensure the smooth progress of the project. The Jiangyan section of the entire Shengchan River Management Project is expected to be fully completed by the end of May 2025, which will greatly improve the river channel conditions and enhance the regional water resources management and environmental protection level.

After the implementation of the project, the flood control, drainage and water diversion irrigation capacity of the Tongnan area will be significantly improved, and the phenomenon of soil erosion on the river slope will be effectively curbed, thereby significantly improving the regional water ecological environment and creating more superior production and living conditions for local people.
