On June 25, 2024, the largest photovoltaic power generation project in the country, Green Power Ruoqiang 4000MW photovoltaic project, was in full swing on the construction site in Ruoqiang County, Xinjiang. At the site, rows of neat photovoltaic panels shine in the sun, workers are tense and orderly installation of these photovoltaic panels, the whole site presents a busy and vibrant scene.

Wang Lifeng, manager of the 4000MW photovoltaic project Department of China Green Power Ruoqiang, said that since the construction of the project began, the project has progressed very smoothly, and the construction of the photovoltaic field has steadily advanced. At present, the installation of 3 million kilowatts of photovoltaic brackets, 700,000 photovoltaic modules and the civil construction of 4 booster stations have been completed. It is expected that all construction work will be completed by December 31, 2024, and the full capacity will be connected to the grid.

The project investment is about 11 billion yuan, covers an area of 11,400 mu, the project construction scale installed capacity of 4000MW, the annual average power generation of 6.9 billion KWH, the project officially started in September 2023, is currently the world's largest single installed photovoltaic project. The project synchronously built a power generation unit array of 1280, 4 single-seat power transformation in the country's largest million-level 220 kV booster station, the comprehensive building selected Tianshan rose shape, to create an industrial tourist resort. Each booster station is to be connected to the 750 kV substation at Ruoqiang under construction by a 220 kV transmission line.

Once operational, the project is expected to generate 6.9 billion KWH of clean energy electricity annually, which is equivalent to saving 2.08 million tons of standard coal. More importantly, this initiative will significantly reduce about 5.72 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and play a positive role in improving the ecological environment. In addition, the project not only improves the ecological benefits of photovoltaic sand control, but also realizes the multi-layered layout of the industry, the diversified development of ecology and the diversified improvement of benefits.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
