On June 26, 2024, Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. ceremoniously started the construction of the Qatar ISND5-2 project at the international high-end equipment manufacturing base in Qingdao. This milestone project not only reflects the extensive strength of Chinese companies in the field of offshore oil and gas field general contracting, but also demonstrates China's outstanding capabilities in the field of complex engineering.
Qatar ISND5-2 project, invested and developed by Qatar Energy Company, is located in the sea area 80 kilometers east of the Qatar Peninsula in the Arabian Gulf. The maximum water depth of the project area is about 35 meters. The scope of work of this project is extremely wide, covering the entire process of design, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, and commissioning, including the construction of 3 wellhead platforms weighing up to 1,300 tons, the laying of 9 sea pipes, the installation of 5 umbilical cables, and the careful construction of 4 underwater skids. The project also involves the transformation of existing in-service platform facilities to ensure the smooth operation and efficient collaboration of the entire project. This comprehensive project not only demonstrates the comprehensive strength of Chinese companies in the field of offshore engineering, but also reflects China's firm commitment to high-quality international oil and gas cooperation.
Ju Wenjie, senior project manager of the ISND5-2 EPC project in Qatar, said that the overall construction period of the project is 43 months, and the contract amount is about 2.216 billion Qatari riyals, equivalent to about 4.437 billion yuan. The variety of business categories and the complexity of the work content have set a record for international offshore oil and gas field EPC projects undertaken by China.
As the international offshore oil and gas field EPC project with the richest business categories and the most complex work content undertaken by Chinese companies, the construction of the ISND5-2 project in Qatar is of great significance to the development of China's marine engineering EPC capabilities.
