In the middle and lower reaches of the Wenlan River in Lingao County, Hainan Province, a major project aimed at improving regional flood control capabilities and promoting agricultural irrigation and green energy utilization is about to begin. The Baomei No. 1 medium-sized reservoir reconstruction and expansion project undertaken by China Construction Port No. 7 Company is expected to officially start construction in early August and is planned to be successfully completed in 2025, marking another important step for the company in the infrastructure construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. milestone.
The Baomei Reservoir reconstruction and expansion project not only carries the important task of flood prevention and disaster reduction, but will also significantly enhance the flood and flood control capabilities of 10,000 acres of farmland around Lingao County and Lincheng Town, providing a solid guarantee for local agricultural production. By optimizing the reservoir design, the project will improve the runoff regulation capacity of the Bolian and Baomei Irrigation Districts. It is expected to restore 5,000 acres of irrigation area along the coast of Dongying Town and significantly improve the irrigation area of a total of 30,000 acres in the Bolien and Baomei Irrigation Districts. Irrigation conditions have injected strong impetus into the sustainable development of regional agriculture.
In the field of green energy, the project also shows a forward-looking layout. By increasing the installed capacity of the reservoir to 1,260kW, the project is expected to achieve a multi-year average power generation of 4.6 million kilowatt-hours, effectively promoting the optimization and upgrading of the local energy structure and contributing to the green development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
The project construction content is extensive and in-depth, including key links such as heightening and thickening the existing earth dam, extending the left and right bank earth dams, demolishing and rebuilding the overflow dam and power station, and building a new concrete non-overflow dam. The project is designed in strict accordance with the design flood standard of 50-year return and the verification flood standard of 300-year return to ensure the safe and stable operation of the reservoir under extreme weather conditions. After the reconstruction and expansion is completed, the total storage capacity of the reservoir will reach 23.2 million cubic meters, significantly improving regional water resource allocation and utilization capabilities.Editor/Cheng Ting
