The Xialiu Jia Irrigation Area Project in Laibin City, Guangxi, as one of the 150 major water conservancy projects designated by the State Council, officially launched comprehensive construction on October 15th in Dazhang Township, Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County. On that day, at the construction site of the Youlong Hub dam foundation, concrete was slowly injected, marking the first substantial step of this critical project.
The Youlong Hub is the core control project in the 6-hub+2 pump station system of the Lower Liujia Irrigation District. At present, 8 projects, including the Youlong Hub, are being synchronously promoted and are expected to complete the main works in April next year to ensure the irrigation water demand during the spring plowing period.
According to Li Yang, the relevant person in charge of China Hydropower Sixth Bureau, Laibin City fully supports the construction of the project. The staff and construction team of the Guizhong Drought Control Letan Reservoir Diversion Irrigation Area Construction Management Bureau, the project owner, work closely together and are stationed at the construction site. After completing the bidding for 6 hubs and 2 pumping stations on September 9th, construction began in just one month.
The six hubs and two pumping stations of the Xialiu Jia Irrigation Area Project are important nodes, and after completion, they will significantly increase the water flow of the irrigation area, with a maximum of 4.94 cubic meters per second, and the direct irrigation area will reach 74600 acres. This project will effectively solve the problem of uneven spatial and temporal distribution of water resources in irrigation areas, and has profound significance for ensuring food security and the development of sugarcane industry in central Guangxi.
