On July 28, 2024, a historic moment was born in Chancheng District, Foshan City. The Guangzhou-Zhanjiang Railway Company, a subsidiary of the Railway Investment Group, invested and constructed the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, the central urban transportation hub station of the Pearl River Delta, Foshan Station, officially broke ground. This milestone groundbreaking ceremony not only marks a key step in the construction of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway station, but also lays a solid foundation for the smooth completion and opening of the project in the future.

As an important node of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway, Foshan Station has a unique geographical location and a well-planned road network in the surrounding area. It is a model of high-speed rail directly entering the city and serving the city center. The station is large in scale and exquisitely designed. The total area is controlled at 30,000 square meters. The layout of the yard is carefully planned according to 3 platforms and 7 lines, and expansion space is reserved to accommodate the future growth of passenger flow. The effective length of the arrival and departure line reaches 650 meters, ensuring the efficient operation of the train. In addition, the station also has 1 basic platform and 2 intermediate platforms, providing passengers with convenient boarding and alighting services.

The design of Foshan Station is even more ingenious, with the concept of "Beautiful Bay Area, Flowers Blooming in Zen City", which cleverly integrates the cultural heritage of Foshan City with modern design concepts. The station building is inspired by the flower of Foshan City - Magnolia. This holy, elegant, clean and warm flower is just like the impression of Foshan City, clean, quiet and beautiful. The design team incorporated the elements of Magnolia into the station building design through the image of "White Orchid Blooming", which not only shows the profound historical and cultural heritage of Foshan, but also highlights the fashion and vitality of the modern transportation hub. It is worth mentioning that the planting history of Magnolia in Foshan is long, dating back to the Tang Dynasty. The Magnolia on Zumiao Road is a collective memory in the hearts of old Foshan people.

As an important part of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network and a key link in the coastal railway passenger transport channel with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the strategic significance of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway is self-evident. This project is not only the railway project with the highest standards, longest route and largest investment in Guangdong Province's history, but also an important link between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan Free Trade Port and Beibu Gulf City Group. After the project is completed, it will greatly shorten the time and space distance between western Guangdong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, significantly improve the travel conditions of the people in western Guangdong, and promote the integrated development of the regional economy.
