On September 22, 2024, Mr. Yao Wen, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to a country, held a meeting with Mr. Gao Zhan, Secretary General of the Yunus Foundation, CEO of Grameen China and Deputy Director of the Financial Inclusion Committee of the Asian Financial Cooperation Association. The meeting not only marked a new round of deepening exploration in the field of financial cooperation between the two countries, but also an important milestone in the joint efforts of the two sides to reduce global poverty and rural revitalization.
During the meeting, Ambassador Yao Wen first extended a warm welcome to Mr. Gao Zhan and spoke highly of the outstanding contributions of Yunus Foundation and Grameen China to global financial innovation and poverty alleviation. He stressed that as friendly neighbors, China and Bangladesh have a long traditional friendship and a broad foundation for cooperation, and their cooperation in the financial field has great potential and broad prospects.
Mr. Gao Zhan thanked Ambassador Yao Wen for his warm reception and introduced in detail the achievements of Yunus Foundation and Grameen China in financial poverty alleviation in Bangladesh and China. He mentioned that the Grameen model has effectively helped millions of poor people to lift themselves out of poverty and achieve self-development through the provision of financial services such as microcredit.
