Recently, on the key construction part of the new Weifang-Suqian high-speed railway and the new Tianjin-Weifang high-speed railway, that is, the four-power system and related projects within the maintenance and management of Jinan Railway Bureau and the station building construction of Binhai Station, the list of winning candidates for the construction of the total contract has been officially announced, marking that these two major transportation infrastructure projects are about to enter the substantive construction stage.

The Tianjin-Weihai high-speed rail project is expected to be fully completed by the end of October 2027, while the Weisu high-speed rail project is scheduled to complete all construction work by the end of June 2028. This series of progress indicates the further expansion and optimization of China's high-speed railway network, which will inject new vitality into the economic and social development of the regions along the route.

Project Overview

Weisu high-speed railway, a high-speed railway that runs through many cities, starts from Weifang North Station, the hub station of Jinan-Qingdao high-speed railway, and then it goes north, passes through Anqiu City and Zhucheng City of Weifang City, and then extends to the southeast, passing through Wulian County and Ju County of Rizhao City, further penetrating Yishui County and Yinan County of Linyi City, and finally connecting to Linyi North Station, an important node station of the Rilan High-speed Railway. The high-speed rail line continues to advance southward, passing through Lanling County and Tancheng County in Linyi City, and crossing the provincial border into Xinyi City, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. In Jiangsu Province, it continued southward, passing through Suqian City, and finally docked with the Yanghebei Line reserved by the Xusu-Huaiyan Railway.

The total operating length of the whole line has reached 400.05 kilometers, of which the length of the new railway line is 398.49 kilometers, and this new line occupies the majority of the length in Shandong Province, reaching 324.94 kilometers. The project plans 36 bridges with a total length of 275.91 kilometers, accounting for 85% of the total length of the new line. In addition, 38 sections of roadbed with a total length of 49.03 kilometers are also planned to ensure the stability and safety of the line. The construction period of the entire project is expected to be four and a half years, and it aims to bring a more convenient and efficient transportation experience to the areas along the route through careful planning and construction.

Scope of Tender

Regarding the new Weifang-Suqian high-speed railway, the section for maintenance and management of the Jinan Railway Bureau is clearly divided into Shandong section (starting point DK0+000 to DK327+189) and Jiangsu section (DK327+189 to ending point DK350+451.22). Within this scope, the four-power system and related supporting projects are the core part of the construction, including but not limited to key facilities such as electricity, communications, signals, and electrification, as well as some auxiliary housing infrastructure, BIBS compensation, water supply and drainage systems, etc. However, the construction of signal houses in Yinan area and the relocation and reconstruction tasks in the catenary line are not included in the construction contract.

The main line project of Weisu high-speed railway starts from DK0+000 and extends to DK350+451.22, with a total length of 337.092 kilometers. In addition, the project also covers all the four-power projects within the scope of the construction drawing design of the two major transportation hubs of Weifang and Linyi, except for the construction of the signal house of Linyi North Station. At the same time, in order to ensure the smooth access of high-speed rail to existing lines, the construction of related projects will also be carried out simultaneously. In terms of timeline, the project is expected to take 1,337 calendar days, from November 1, 2024 to June 30, 2028.
