On February 18, 2025, Dalian Port, an important port in Northeast China, officially opened a new container shipping route directly to the Mediterranean. The opening of this new route marks the establishment of a stable and efficient maritime logistics channel between Northeast China and Mediterranean coastal countries.

The route is operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company and plans to deploy 16 container ships with a capacity of 19000 TEUs to achieve weekly scheduled flight operations. The direct route to major ports in Egypt, Türkiye, Israel and other countries will greatly meet the import and export demand of chemicals, automobiles and parts, electromechanical equipment, mineral resources and other products between Northeast China and Mediterranean coastal countries.

Dalian Port, as the main shipping channel in Northeast China, has been committed to expanding and improving its container shipping network. As of now, Dalian Port has 106 container shipping routes, including 93 foreign trade container shipping routes, connecting more than 300 ports in over 160 countries and regions worldwide. The opening of this new route not only further enriches the route layout of Dalian Port, but also provides a more convenient maritime logistics channel for economic and trade cooperation between Northeast China and Mediterranean coastal countries.

In 2025, Dalian Port will continue to expand and improve its container shipping network, further expand the import and export channels for inland goods, and enhance its full supply chain service capabilities.
