On April 15, the first round of bidding for renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan in 2025 successfully came to an end. This bidding, led by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, has attracted much attention. The newly launched integrated bidding project of "wind power + energy storage" has drawn fierce competition among global energy enterprises. In the end, Huantai Energy stood out with its technological and operational advantages and successfully won a 1GW wind power project located in the Kostanay region in the north, along with a supporting 600MWh energy storage system.
This project is an important milestone in the history of the development of new energy in Kazakhstan. It is planned to generate 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which is equivalent to meeting the annual electricity demand of a city with a population of millions. It can reduce carbon emissions by 3.9 million tons every year, providing strong support for the regional carbon neutrality goal. The supporting energy storage system will effectively solve the problem of the intermittency of wind power. By "shaving peaks and filling valleys", it ensures stable power output and significantly enhances the resilience of the power grid.
This successful bid has further consolidated Huantai Energy's leading position in the Central Asian market. Up to now, the company has 17 new energy projects in Kazakhstan, covering grid-connected, under-construction and to-be-constructed projects, with a total installed capacity approaching 2GW. It has become the largest and most technically powerful comprehensive clean energy service provider in Central Asia, injecting new impetus into the energy cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.
