On May 13, Egypt reached an important milestone in its renewable energy sector when a 500-megawatt wind power project in the Red Sea region was officially commissioned, a full six months ahead of schedule. H.E. Mustafa Madbouli, Prime Minister of Egypt Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Esmat. Mahmoud Esmat) co-attended the ceremony to witness the commercial operation of the project, demonstrating the important role of the project in the country's energy transition.
The project is provided by Goldwind Science and Technology Co., Ltd., and a total of 84 GW165-6.0MW large-scale wind turbines have been installed, with a total installed capacity of 500 MW. This is Goldwind's first entry into the Egyptian market, and it is another landmark achievement of its "going global" strategy in the Middle East and North Africa.
Once operational, the wind farm will provide clean electricity to more than 1 million homes in Egypt every year, greatly enhancing the country's energy security. At the same time, the project will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.5 million tons per year, helping Egypt move towards a more sustainable and low-carbon future. Its emission reduction benefits are equivalent to planting millions of trees, which is of positive significance for improving the regional ecological environment.
During the construction of the project, Goldwind worked closely with local partners to complete key nodes such as equipment delivery, installation and commissioning, and grid-connected operation with high quality under multiple challenges, demonstrating strong execution and project management capabilities. In particular, Goldwind's local team in Egypt played a key role in making full use of local resources and coping with complex natural conditions such as heat and dust, laying the foundation for the successful commissioning of the project.
Industry insiders pointed out that the project not only provides solid support for the realization of the renewable energy proportion target in Egypt's national "2035 Energy Strategy", but also provides valuable experience for Chinese wind power enterprises to expand the international market. In recent years, the Egyptian government has continued to promote clean energy, aiming to increase the share of renewable energy in the electricity mix to 42% by 2030. The completion and commissioning of the Red Sea wind power project is a key step on the path to achieving this goal.
With the official commissioning of this project, Goldwind has not only accelerated its global layout, but also once again proved the comprehensive competitiveness of China's wind power equipment manufacturing enterprises in terms of high-end product output and project execution.(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
