GCL System Integration is a subsidiary of China's GCL Group, which has collaborated with Norwegian Ocean Solar to develop the NT10/60GT, a new type of floating photovoltaic module tailored specifically for offshore solar applications. This innovative module aims to enhance the production of renewable energy in the marine environment.
The rated power of the NT10/60GT module is 480 W, designed to withstand challenging ocean conditions including high humidity, corrosion, and wave impact. It adopts GCL's proprietary IP68 level junction box with four layers of waterproof protection, located on the side facing sunlight. The diaphragm isolates the module from seawater, promoting heat dissipation and minimizing heat loss, thereby improving performance in offshore environments.
This module has obtained T Ü V Rheinland certification and is suitable for ship photovoltaic systems, exceeding IEC standards, especially in terms of resistance to potential induced degradation (PID). It is built on Ocean Sun's floating platform, utilizing flexible membranes and prefabricated track systems. The GCLSI report states that this design enhances heat dissipation by directly contacting seawater, increasing energy conversion efficiency by over 10%.
This module provides an electrical output of 460 W to 490 W under standard testing conditions, with a peak efficiency of 21.78%. It supports system voltages up to 1500 V, uses MC4 connectors, and features a dual glass structure with an anodized aluminum alloy frame. This design can withstand strong winds and snow loads, ensuring durability under harsh conditions.
This collaboration highlights the commitment of both companies to advancing floating solar technology for the global renewable energy market.
In addition, Ocean Sun has partnered with Canopy Power in Singapore to deploy floating solar solutions in Australia. This initiative aims to address the shortage of land and water resources, while accelerating the adoption of renewable energy. This partnership highlights the growing global interest in floating photovoltaic systems as a sustainable energy solution.
The NT10/60GT module integrated by GCL represents a significant advancement in offshore solar technology, combining durability, efficiency, and adaptability. By utilizing Ocean Sun's floating platform, this module supports the expansion of clean energy production in marine environments. This development strengthens GCL Integrated's position in the global renewable energy sector and contributes to innovative solutions for sustainable energy generation.
