On July 3, 2025, the Dazhaohuo 10GW photovoltaic project in Golmud City, Qaidam Basin, Qinghai Province was officially registered. This project is developed and constructed by China Huadian Group Co., Ltd. Qinghai Branch. It is currently the "Shagehuang" new energy transmission base project with the largest installed capacity, the largest total investment scale, and the highest proportion of new energy in China's planned construction.

Project planning and construction content

The project is located in Golmud City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. It will construct a 10 million kilowatt photovoltaic power generation facility, supporting infrastructure such as photovoltaic array box transformers, collection lines, and operation and maintenance control centers, and simultaneously promote the construction of ancillary facilities such as access roads and maintenance roads. The project places special emphasis on ecological environment protection and will simultaneously carry out ecological governance work.

Project benefits and strategic significance

After completion, the project is expected to generate an average annual power of 18 billion kWh, making it the first cross provincial and cross regional new energy transmission base power project in China. The implementation of this project will significantly enhance the regional power supply guarantee capability, which has important strategic significance for promoting the green transformation of Qinghai Province's energy structure and building a national clean energy industry highland.

Creating a new development model for the 'Shage Desert'

As a benchmark project for the development of new energy in the "Shage Desert" region of China, this project innovatively combines ultra supercritical thermal power with large-scale photovoltaic power generation, creating a new model for the development and construction of new energy bases and providing an important practical case for China to achieve its carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.
