The Development and Reform Commission of Qinghai Province recently officially registered and approved the "10 million kilowatt photovoltaic project in Chaidamu Desert East Base, Golmud City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province". This project is developed and constructed by China Huadian Group Co., Ltd. Qinghai Branch, and is currently the largest single scale "Shagehuang" new energy transmission base power project planned and constructed in China. The project site is located in the Da Zao Huo area of Golmud City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, with a total installed capacity of 10000MW. The construction includes power facilities such as photovoltaic field area, array box transformer, and collection line, as well as supporting projects such as operation and maintenance center and access road, and the simultaneous implementation of ecological governance projects.

As the first cross provincial and cross operational new energy transmission base power project in China, this project has three significant characteristics: the largest construction scale of new energy projects in the "Shage Desert" region in China; Supporting the construction of China's highest altitude ultra supercritical thermal power project; New energy has the highest proportion in the power structure.

After the project is completed and put into operation, it is expected to generate an average annual power of about 18BkWh, which will effectively enhance the regional power supply guarantee capability and have important strategic significance for promoting the green transformation of Qinghai Province's energy structure and building a national clean energy industry highland. At the same time, the project will also drive local employment and promote the optimization and upgrading of regional economic structure.
