On July 13, 2025, the Olympic Electra engineering vessel officially entered the site of the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm project in Poland to carry out a six-month rock relocation operation, marking the substantial construction phase of this largest offshore wind power project in Poland. The project is jointly developed by Denmark's Woxu Energy Company and Poland's PGE Polish Energy Group, and is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2027.
According to a message released by Danish energy company Woxu through social media on July 9th, the relocation of the giant rock is a key preliminary work for the installation of the foundation and underwater infrastructure of the project. Ulrik Ankstegen Lange, Vice President and Managing Director of the Baltica 2 project at Danish energy company, said, "As the leading party in the offshore construction of the Baltica 2 project, we are pleased to carry out preliminary construction in the Baltic Sea of Poland. "
The Baltica 2 project will install 107 14 MW -222 offshore wind turbines produced by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy in Germany. The project party has selected Gdansk Port in Poland as the wind turbine storage, pre assembly, and offshore installation base. In terms of basic supply, the Spanish Navantia Winda consortium will provide 77 single pile foundations, while the German company Stivind Nordenham will be responsible for supplying the remaining 34 wind turbine foundations. After the completion of the 1.5 GW offshore wind farm, it will become an important milestone in the development of renewable energy in Poland.
Earlier this year, Denmark's Woxu Energy Company and Poland's PGE Polish Energy Group made the final investment decision for the Baltica 2 project, with a total investment of billions of euros. As an important clean energy cooperation project along the the Belt and Road, the construction of Baltica 2 will strongly promote the transformation of Poland's energy structure and the development of green energy in Europe.
