On April 23, 2026, on the hills of Hengpufanggai District in Guangning Province, the mechanical roar broke the previous tranquility. With the first shovel of soil falling, the No.1 Guangning Wind Farm project officially broke ground. This is not only one of the first wind power projects in northern Vietnam, but also sounds the horn of developing the northern wind energy treasure with a total investment of nearly 7.3 trillion Vietnamese dong and an installed capacity of 200 megawatts. At the critical juncture of Vietnam's energy transition, this emerging green power engine is attempting to rewrite the energy landscape of the northern region.

1.9 billion yuan to build a green engine
The project has a huge scale, with a total investment of approximately 1.9 billion yuan, and plans to install 32 wind turbines using modern technology. According to the plan, the project will be officially put into operation in 2028, and can deliver up to 600 million kilowatt hours of clean energy to the State Grid annually. This number is sufficient to meet the annual electricity demand of hundreds of thousands of households and is a key puzzle for Guangning Province to achieve its goal of generating 4700 megawatts of wind power by 2025 to 2035. As a pioneer, this project carries the dual mission of verifying technology and accumulating experience, and its success or failure directly affects the confidence of subsequent large-scale development.
Wind energy rich mines between mountains and seas
The location in the mountainous and hilly areas of Hengpufang and Tongyi Township is not accidental. Guangning Province has a coastline of about 250 kilometers and is deeply influenced by the stable Asian monsoon circulation. Whether on land or at sea, wind energy resources are extremely abundant. Professional research data shows that the offshore wind power potential in the province is as high as 13000 megawatts, and the onshore potential is also over 2300 megawatts. This unique natural condition makes it one of the most valuable regions for wind power development in Vietnam. The construction of Guangning Wind Farm No.1 aims to transform this dormant resource advantage into tangible economic momentum.

As the leaves begin to rotate in 2028, Guangning Province will no longer be just a coal town, but a new energy highland integrating ecology and economy is rising.Editor/Cheng Liting
