In order to deepen the economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, the innovative pilot project of bakht (Republic of Kazakhstan)-Baktu (People's Republic of China (PRC)) border port-Smart Customs has been officially launched. This project takes unmanned freight as an important part and is committed to improving the efficiency and digitization level of customs logistics.

The project originated from the working meeting between Jandos Duysen Bieyev, Chairman of the State Income Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Zhi Xianwei, Secretary of the Tacheng District Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. During the meeting, the two sides reached an agreement and signed a cooperation agreement. According to the agreement, the two countries will work together to promote the project, coordinate the pace of action, and share experience in the field of customs and logistics process digitalization.

Smart Customs has integrated a number of modern solutions to bring convenience and efficiency to cross-border trade. Among them, unmanned vehicles will undertake the task of cargo transportation and realize automatic transit, replacing the traditional manual driving mode; At the same time, a single electronic customs declaration form was launched, which was recognized by both countries, and the whole process of document handling and cargo tracking was digitized. With the help of automatic navigation and control system, cargo transportation can be carried out around the clock with almost no manual intervention.

The expected results of this project are remarkable: the annual freight volume is expected to increase to 10 million tons; Customs processing time will be greatly shortened; The transportation cost is reduced; The transparency and security of logistics operations have been further improved; The pressure on highway infrastructure has been alleviated and the construction of logistics hub has been accelerated; The export of agricultural products has been promoted, covering grains, oilseeds, meat and processed products.

The landing of smart customs will not only promote the renewal of border infrastructure, create new jobs and attract more investment, but also help expand the trade scale between Kazakhstan and China and consolidate Kazakhstan's position as an important transit center in Central Asia.
