Tianhe Solar Energy Co., Ltd., a leading enterprise in China's photovoltaic energy storage industry, has partnered with AMEA Power in the United Arab Emirates to successfully build Africa's first 300MWh integrated solar energy storage project in Aswan Province, Egypt in just 60 days, achieving grid connection operation two months ahead of schedule.
The project is equipped with a 500MW photovoltaic power station, facing core challenges such as high temperatures in deserts and fragile local power grids. With the liquid cooled battery system, it effectively addresses the stability of energy supply in North Africa, providing strong support for Egypt to achieve its goal of 42% renewable energy by 2035. At the same time, it also marks the widespread recognition of Chinese enterprises' technical output and standard setting capabilities in the international new energy field.
According to the official statement released by Trina Solar on August 12th, this world's first battery energy storage system project to be completed within 60 days in extreme desert environments uses its independently developed Elementa 2 liquid cooled energy storage platform and is equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries, which efficiently promote the entire process from equipment production to grid connection.

The integrated solar energy storage base operates in conjunction with the 500MW photovoltaic power station under AMEA Power, which can store surplus electricity during the day and release it at night, significantly alleviating the electricity fluctuations caused by natural gas supply shortages in Egypt. The 2030 Vision promoted by Egyptian Prime Minister Sisi has set clear goals to increase the proportion of renewable energy generation to 42% by 2035. However, issues such as aging power grid facilities and insufficient intermittent energy consumption capacity have long constrained its development process.
It is worth noting that Trina Solar collaborated with a global technology team through localized adaptation and completed the first batch of equipment shipments within 30 days after the contract was signed. Its full stack solution covers all aspects from DC cabin to AC interface, achieving direct external output of Chinese technical standards. Some analysts believe that this cooperation not only secured priority negotiation rights for Chinese companies to participate in Egypt's over 1GW new energy projects in the future, but also established a dual brand image of Chinese speed and reliability in energy storage bidding in countries such as Saudi Arabia and Morocco.
On the basis of the successful operation of the solar storage project, Trina Solar plans to cooperate with AMEA Power to launch the second phase of the 500MWh expansion project within 2025 and gradually introduce hydrogen energy coupling technology. According to the International Energy Agency's forecast, the demand for energy storage in Egypt will climb to 2.7 GWh by 2030, and the continuous technological iteration and business model innovation of Chinese enterprises may redefine the development pattern of new energy in the entire region.
