The second phase of the Chengdu urban railway public transportation operation and renovation project, which has attracted much attention, has made significant progress - the bidding work for the total construction price contracting of the project has officially started. The total investment of this project reaches 9.78593 billion yuan, with Chengdu Regional Railway Co., Ltd. as the construction unit. All funds are raised by Chengdu itself, marking a crucial step in the process of building a "metropolitan area on the track" in Chengdu.

It is reported that this project has obtained joint approval from China Railway Group Co., Ltd. and the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and the construction drawing design documents are complete. The project is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, People's Republic of China. The project aims to further enhance the urban rail transit network, improve the commuting efficiency of citizens, and promote the integrated and coordinated development of the "central urban area suburban new city" by implementing public transportation transformation of existing railway hubs and organically connecting new lines.

The engineering construction covers two core parts: the renovation of the Chengdu railway hub loop and the construction of the Chongzhou branch line and high-speed train operation station. The specific content includes:

Chengdu Railway Hub Circle Line Renovation: Strengthening Network Connection and Station Coverage

The new connecting line and the reconstruction of the existing line include: the construction of the left and right lines of the "Chengguan to West Ring Connection Line", with a total length of about 5.739 kilometers, to achieve efficient connection between the Chengguan Railway and the West Ring Line; Renovate sections such as the left and right lines of the Western Ring Road and the Chengdu Guanzhou connecting line, with a total length of approximately 4.49 kilometers, to comprehensively enhance the operational capacity of the line.

Six new stations will be built in the station area, including Shuxi Road Station, Chengnan Expressway Station, Xinchenglong Road Station, and five other non track stations, covering densely populated areas such as Wuhou District and Jinniu District; Simultaneously renovate 5 existing stations - Chengdu East Station, Chengdu South Station, Hongpailou Station, Chengdu West Station, and Anjing Station - to implement public transportation upgrades and add a new Hongpailou Station building to enhance passenger flow distribution capacity.

In addition, by renovating existing lines and adding a second line, the Chengdu Kunming West Ring Link will achieve an expansion of approximately 3.384 kilometers, further unleashing the potential of railway hub transportation.

New Chongzhou branch line and high-speed train operation station: expanding service scope and improving supporting facilities

The newly built Chongzhou branch line has a total length of 19.364 kilometers, starting from DK20+986 and ending at DK40+349.901. The double section is 14.364 kilometers long and the single section is 10.025 kilometers long, effectively connecting areas such as Pidu District and Chongzhou City, filling the gap in rail transit in the western suburbs of Chengdu.

At the same time, a new Chongzhou high-speed train operation station will be built, with supporting construction of high-speed train running lines at the north and south ends, with a total length of about 6.683 kilometers, to meet the needs of vehicle maintenance and dispatch.

In terms of station layout, Yuantong Station and Daoming Station will be newly built and Chongzhou Station will be renovated to serve the urban area and surrounding towns of Chongzhou, effectively promoting the coordinated development of regional economy.This construction bidding is divided into 7 sections, numbered SYS01 to SYS07 in sequence. The total planned construction period of the project is 912 calendar days. It is planned to officially start construction on October 1, 2025 and be completed on March 31, 2028.

Among them, the SYS01 section covers the construction of the left and right connecting lines between Chengguan (Peng) and Xihuan, the reconstruction of the left and right connecting lines of Xihuan and Chengguan, the transformation of Anjing Station into a public transportation system, the construction of Dongzikou Station and Shuxi Road Station, as well as related station subgrade, bridges, tracks, station buildings, and post station four electricity projects.

The SYS02 section includes the reconstruction of the Kunming West Ring Connection Line, the addition of a second line, the renovation of four stations including Chengdu West Station, Hongpailou Station, Chengdu South Station, and Chengdu East Station, the construction of four new stations including Caojin Road Station, Wuhou Avenue Station, Xinchenglong Road Station, and Chengnan Expressway Station, and the implementation of corresponding station buildings and four power projects.

The SYS03 to SYS07 sections are responsible for the construction of subgrades, bridges, culverts, beams, tracks, four electrical systems, weak current engineering, station buildings, and other operational equipment related to the Chongzhou branch line and the high-speed train operation. The specific engineering content is subject to the bill of quantities for each section.

As a key component of Chengdu's rail transit system, the completion of this project will significantly enhance the level of urban railway public transportation services. On the one hand, by optimizing the hub loop and increasing the layout of stations, it will strengthen the rapid commuting connection between the central urban area and suburban areas; On the other hand, by leveraging the Chongzhou branch line to connect the western region with the main urban transportation network, we can accelerate the flow of urban and rural resource elements. In addition, the project will also enhance the overall function of Chengdu's railway hub, providing important support for the high-quality construction of a "metropolitan area on the track".
