Fluence, a global energy storage technology provider, and ACE Engineering in Vietnam recently announced a partnership to build a fully automated battery energy storage system production base with an annual capacity of 35GWh in the province of Bac Giang, Vietnam. The factory will produce multiple grid level energy storage products under Fluence, including Gridstack Pro and Smartstack, covering pre meter power generation and industrial and commercial application scenarios to meet the growing demand for battery energy storage systems in the global market.
As the flagship product of Fluence, Gridstack Pro has passed multiple international safety certifications such as UL9540 and is suitable for large-scale energy storage deployment in areas with limited transmission capacity; Smartstack focuses on compact structure and integrated energy management capabilities, suitable for commercial and industrial users. After the factory is built, it is expected to support the deployment of a 4-hour energy storage system with an annual output of approximately 8.75GWh.
Fluence President Julian Nebredo stated that the new factory will enhance delivery capabilities and market responsiveness through automated production and strict quality control. Although Fluence has temporarily fallen out of the top five global system integrator rankings this year, its outstanding orders still exceed 35.1 billion yuan, with projects mainly distributed in the Americas and continuing to expand into the Australian, Latin American, and Southeast Asian markets.

In recent years, several international energy storage companies have increased their manufacturing investment in Southeast Asia. In addition to Fluence, CATL China will launch a $6 billion battery integration project in Indonesia in July 2025, covering the entire chain from mining to battery cell manufacturing; Ruipu Lanjun also announced earlier this year the construction of an 8GWh annual energy storage battery super factory in Indonesia. This trend echoes the Indonesian government's plan to promote rural energy projects with 100GW of photovoltaic and 320GWh of energy storage, highlighting the increasingly important position of Southeast Asia in the global energy storage industry chain.
