Recently, China Energy Engineering Group's China Electric Engineering International Co., Ltd. and China Electric Engineering Northwest Institute jointly won the bid for the EPC general contracting project of the Irote Photovoltaic Power Station in Zambia, officially completing the contract signing, marking the comprehensive implementation stage of this key Sino African cooperation project. This project is an important breakthrough for Chinese enterprises in the renewable energy field in Zambia, demonstrating the comprehensive competitiveness of Chinese engineering enterprises in the international electricity market.

The project is located west of the southern border city of Seseko in Zambia, and the construction content covers the comprehensive upgrading and renovation of photovoltaic power plants, 33 kV transmission lines, and off-site substations. The scope of the project includes the entire industry chain, including project survey and design, equipment and material procurement, engineering construction, installation and commissioning, trial operation, and two-year operation and maintenance services.

It is reported that the project is scheduled to officially start construction in October 2025, with an expected construction period of 18 months. As the first renewable energy EPC project implemented by China Energy Construction in Zambia, the project can provide approximately 55 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity annually, effectively alleviating the electricity shortage in southern Zambia and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 45000 tons.

The implementation of this project will further enhance the influence of Chinese enterprises in the African new energy market and make positive contributions to promoting the joint construction of the Green Silk Road between China and Africa.
