Recently, the first foundation pouring pilot of the Datong East 500 kV transmission and transformation project in Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province has officially started. This exciting moment marks the official start of the construction of the project, injecting new strong impetus into the energy development of Datong.

The Datong East 500 kV Power Transmission and Transformation Project is managed by State Grid Shanxi Construction Branch and is a key project for Shanxi Province in 2025 and 2026. It is also a key channel for the construction of the Datong Wind Solar Thermal Storage and Source Grid Load Storage Integrated Base. It is like a giant dragon, starting from Hunyuan County and ending at Guangling County, connecting important nodes for energy transmission. The project has a designed transmission capacity of up to 5 million kilowatts, a total length of 185.345 kilometers, and a total investment of 876.72 million yuan. Such a large-scale investment and construction demonstrate its important position and far-reaching impact in the energy field.

From the strategic perspective of energy development, this project holds extraordinary significance. Datong has abundant wind and solar energy resources, however, how to efficiently transmit and consume these high-quality clean energy sources has always been a bottleneck restricting the development of the local energy industry. The completion of the Datong East 500 kV power transmission and transformation project will effectively break this dilemma and open up an unobstructed transmission channel for clean energy in Datong, allowing high-quality wind and solar power to be continuously transmitted to a wider market and achieving optimized energy allocation.
