Khazna Data Center, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, recently announced a $2.62 billion financing agreement with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Abu Dhabi First Bank to provide financial support for its data center expansion plans in the UAE and the region, with a maximum loan term of 10 years. This financing will focus on promoting the development of new data centers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Ajman. The Ajman project is the first data center designed specifically for artificial intelligence (AI) in the Middle East and North Africa region, marking the upgrade of regional digital infrastructure towards high computing power and low energy consumption.

As the dominant player in the UAE data center market, Khazna currently holds 73% of the national market share in operating facilities. This expansion plan directly targets the trend of a surge in demand for ultra large scale data centers and AI computing power - such facilities require extremely high power supply and cooling technology. Analysts point out that this will force the power industry to accelerate investment in power generation projects, upgrade the power grid, and develop energy-saving technologies, while creating opportunities for the integration of renewable energy. According to Mordor Intelligence's prediction, the total capacity of data centers in the Middle East and North Africa will double within five years. Khazna plans to shorten delivery cycles, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact through modular construction technology.

In specific projects, the AUH4 and AUH8 data centers located in Mafraq, Abu Dhabi and Masdar City started construction in April this year, with a total capacity of 60 megawatts, and will be completed in December and August 2026, respectively; Ajman's 100 MW QAJ1 AI data center has entered the construction phase, with the first phase planned to be completed by the end of 2026; The 200 MW data center planned for Dubai Production City covers 100000 square meters and includes 20 5-megawatt data halls. The project is valued at $408 million and is currently in the evaluation stage, with the main contract yet to be finalized.

Khazna's layout is deeply aligned with the "UAE 2031 National Artificial Intelligence Strategy", and its data center network will not only strengthen regional cloud computing and big data service capabilities, but also attract global technology companies to land through the construction of AI computing power clusters. With the widespread application of modular technology and renewable energy, this expansion plan is expected to reshape the digital infrastructure landscape in the Middle East and provide key support for economic diversification transformation.Editor/Cheng Liting
