Pakistan's Minister of Planning, Development and Special Projects, Ahsan Ikbar, stated on September 15th that the Sujijinari hydropower station, invested, constructed and operated by China Energy Construction Group, has made significant contributions to Pakistan's clean energy development and has become a landmark project in China Pakistan energy cooperation. The one-year anniversary celebration ceremony of the commercial operation of the hydropower station was held in Islamabad on the same day.
Iqbal fully affirmed the operational effectiveness of the power station over the past year in his speech. He pointed out that as a key energy project of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Sujijinari Hydropower Station continues to provide stable and clean electricity to Pakistan, effectively alleviating domestic power shortages, playing a key role in optimizing energy structure, reducing dependence on traditional energy, and enhancing national energy security. The Pakistani government will continue to fully support the development of power stations, strengthen security measures, and promote deeper practical cooperation with China.

Shi Yuanqiang, Acting Charg é d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, stated that the hydropower station fully demonstrates the comprehensive benefits of clean energy projects, and Chinese companies actively fulfill their social responsibilities during operation, achieving good social response. China is willing to work with Pakistan to continuously promote the construction of the upgraded version of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and deepen cooperation in multiple fields, including energy.
Shah Jahan Mirza, General Manager of Pakistan's Private Electricity and Infrastructure Commission, pointed out that the Sujijinari hydropower station has become an important force in promoting Pakistan's economic growth and ensuring people's electricity supply. In the future, it will continue to support its development and further play the role of the project in energy supply and green transformation.
According to the project company, since its commercial operation on September 14, 2024, the Sujijinari hydropower station has delivered a total of 2.8 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity to the Pakistani power grid and created over 100 stable job opportunities, effectively contributing to the local economic and social development.
