Karamay Launches Investment Promotion for Over 10 Billion PV Manufacturing Projects

Under the background of the "dual carbon" goal and the accelerated transformation of energy structure, Karamay, Xinjiang, actively seized the opportunity of green development, relying on local resource advantages and industrial base, and actively layout new heights of photovoltaic manufacturing. Recently, the Commerce Bureau of Karamay City, Xinjiang, centrally released three key investment projects in the photovoltaic manufacturing industry, covering three major fields of high-efficiency batteries, inverters and photovoltaic strips, with a total investment of 11.575 billion yuan. This series of measures marked that Karamay has taken a key step in building the whole photovoltaic industry chain and promoting high-end manufacturing of green energy.

12GW high-efficiency battery intelligent manufacturing project (total investment of 10.925 billion yuan)

The project plans to construct a 12GW TOPCon high-efficiency photovoltaic cell and 5GW high-power module production base, which will be promoted in two phases. The first phase will build a production capacity of 6GW batteries and 2GW modules, and the second phase will expand to 6GW batteries and 3GW modules, with a construction period of 8 months for each phase. After full production, it is expected that the annual taxable sales revenue will be approximately 23.4 billion yuan. The project has obvious location advantages, with nearby enterprises such as Jiangsu Jingpin, Daquan New Energy, and Hesheng Silicon Industry, which can ensure the supply of core raw materials such as silicon wafers and silver paste nearby.

Annual production of 10GW photovoltaic inverter project (total investment of 150 million yuan)

The project plans to construct a 25000 square meter factory building, with a capacity of 10GW of highly reliable photovoltaic inverters and bidirectional converters. After reaching production capacity, the estimated annual sales revenue is about 300 million yuan, and the investment payback period is only 2 years. The project is located in the Urhe Industrial Park, which is the first incremental distribution network demonstration zone in Xinjiang to be connected to the grid, and enjoys independent power supply operation rights and land policy benefits. At the same time, Wuerhe is actively building a three-dimensional transportation system of "iron, public and machinery", and has introduced the "Crystal 12GW Silicon Rod and Slicing Project", which has a good foundation for photovoltaic industry collaboration.

Annual production of 10000 tons of photovoltaic ribbon manufacturing project (total investment of 500 million yuan)

The project will build a new production workshop, warehouse, research and development testing center, and supporting service facilities, with a total construction area of 38000 square meters and an area of 100 acres. After full production, the annual revenue is expected to reach 1.1-1.2 billion yuan. Xinjiang has abundant local resources of tin, copper and other metals, and raw materials can be quickly supplied through road transportation, effectively reducing production costs.

The centralized launch of the three major photovoltaic manufacturing projects in Karamay will not only help to form a complete industrial chain in the region from silicon materials and battery modules to inverters and welding strips, but also strengthen Xinjiang's strategic position in the field of new energy equipment manufacturing and inject strong green power into the high-quality transformation of local economy.

Looking forward to the future, Karamay is expected to become an important pole of photovoltaic industry in the northwest region and even the whole country by virtue of its resource endowment, policy support and regional advantages, and contribute more to China's clean and low-carbon energy transformation.
