Recently, Qin Yongping, Deputy Director of the Appraisal Center of China Railway Group, and his delegation went deep into Hubei, Henan, and Anhui provinces to conduct on-site surveys of the new Beijing Kowloon high-speed railway from Fuyang to Huanggang. They also held a feasibility study review meeting in Wuhan, with Cui Yonghong, member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director, fully participating in the survey and review. This important measure marks a solid step towards the implementation of the project.

The Fuyang to Huanggang section of the Beijing Kowloon high-speed railway is of great significance, as it is a key component of the national "Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals" Beijing Kowloon high-speed railway corridor. From the perspective of regional connectivity, the project starts from Fuyang City in the north, passes through Hong'an, Macheng, Xinzhou to Huanggang, with a total length of about 136 kilometers in Hubei Province and an estimated investment of 22.4 billion yuan. Its completion will connect the major transportation arteries from Hubei Province to the Shandong Peninsula and Northeast China, greatly enhancing the breadth and depth of regional road network coverage, and making the flow of personnel and materials more efficient and convenient.

For the revolutionary old areas of the Dabie Mountains, this high-speed railway is even more of a hopeful path for development. Nearly 10 counties and cities in the contiguous poverty-stricken areas of the Dabie Mountains will end their history of not being able to access high-speed rail, bringing tangible benefits to the people in the old areas. At the same time, it will effectively promote the high-quality development of the revolutionary old areas in the Dabie Mountains, drive the rise of characteristic industries, attract more investment and talent, and inject new development vitality into the old areas.

From a planning perspective, the Fuyang to Huanggang section of the Beijing Kowloon high-speed railway is a national medium to long term and "14th Five Year Plan" railway planning and construction project. As early as September 2020, China Railway Group initiated the survey and design work for the project. According to the preliminary plan, the total length of the line is about 318 kilometers, with a total investment of over 50 billion yuan. The line connects 12 counties and cities in three provinces, Anhui, Henan, and Hubei, covering a population of over 25 million, with a wide radiation range and far-reaching impact. At present, the project has entered a critical stage of advancement. Next, the Provincial Development and Reform Commission will further strengthen its work coordination with Henan Province and Anhui Province, forming a strong force for cross regional collaborative promotion. At the same time, actively strive for policy support and resource allocation, and spare no effort to promote the early start of project construction. I believe that with the joint efforts of all parties, the Fuyang to Huanggang section of the Beijing Kowloon high-speed railway will soon turn from a blueprint into a reality.Editor/Cheng Liting
