In Bangladesh, truck driver Hanxi is eagerly anticipating the completion and opening of the Dhaka to Asulia Elevated Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the DAA Expressway). As an important textile industry zone in the country, Asulia's smooth roads mean that products can be quickly transported to places such as Dhaka and Chittagong, reducing transportation costs and increasing income.

The Da A Expressway project is of great significance, covering the construction of a 24 kilometer long four lane elevated highway, the upgrading and renovation of 14.3 kilometers of existing roads, as well as ancillary projects such as ramps and auxiliary road bridges. Its design has a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour and is contracted by China National Machinery Industry Corporation, a subsidiary of China General Technology Group International Co., Ltd. The project will significantly improve transportation connections in the northern part of Dhaka and its industrial areas, alleviate congestion, and benefit approximately 40 million people in Dhaka and its surrounding 30 districts. This highway will usher in a new era of connectivity in Bangladesh, "said Abdul Rahman, Director of the Bridge Bureau of the Ministry of Transport of Bangladesh.

Entering the project construction site, the bridge erecting machine steadily advances, and the installation of T-beams and the construction of the upper structure of the bridge are carried out in an orderly manner. The Daa Expressway project is located in a river alluvial plain with complex geological landforms and busy local land and water transportation. The project requires the demolition of the old bridge while ensuring the passage of vehicles and ships during the construction period. However, the road and bridge construction technology of Chinese companies has given Meng full confidence. The project is progressing according to plan. Chinese companies have world-class technology and equipment in road and bridge construction, "said project director Shafiku. Ma Zhihua, the project manager of China Machinery Industry Corporation, also said, "The overall progress of the project is over half, laying a good foundation for the scheduled completion and opening to traffic in 2026

Project construction not only focuses on project progress, but also actively fulfills social responsibilities. Nearly 4000 local workers were employed on the project site to cultivate local talents through mentorship. Mo Lan, the local guy who is responsible for translation and machinery scheduling, sighed: "I have accumulated a lot of work experience and learned a lot of knowledge here. I hope that through my own efforts, I can help the road to be completed smoothly, build bridges and pave the way with Chinese friends, and open the door to connectivity for Bangladesh." Key words: the Belt and Road, the Belt and Road News

"We are committed to deeply participating in the construction of the transportation sector of the the Belt and Road countries, and contributing to building a global connectivity partnership and achieving common development and prosperity." Lu Weijun, deputy general manager of China General Technology Group International Co., Ltd., said, highlighting the responsibility and determination of Chinese enterprises under the the Belt and Road initiative. The Daa Expressway is becoming a vivid witness to the joint progress and prosperity of China and Bangladesh.Editor/Cheng Liting
