On October 7, 2025, according to Podrobno, Uzbekistan has invested 27.5 trillion Sums in the development of drinking water supply and sanitation facilities over the past eight years. Thanks to these investments, the clean water supply rate in Uzbekistan has increased to 82%, and over 20% of residents have access to sanitation services.
These data were announced at an international conference jointly organized by Usuftamino and the World Bank.
The report points out that a total of 16 trillion sum has been invested in the past three years, accounting for nearly 60% of the total investment. More than half of the funds come from the national budget, while the rest are provided by international financial institutions. These funds were used to build and rebuild 3600 facilities, laying over 40000 kilometers of network.
Barbara Janush Pauletta, head of the Uzbekistan office of the International Water Management Institute, believes that despite the increasing consumption of water resources and climate change, sustainable water supply is still an achievable goal that requires time and sustained action.
We will eventually achieve 100% coverage, but it still takes time. The most important thing is to understand the necessity in this regard and take gradual action: build and upgrade infrastructure, reduce losses, and cultivate an attitude of caring for water resources, "she said in an interview with Podrobo.uz reporters.

The work in this field is still ongoing: 21 international projects with a total value exceeding 2 billion US dollars will be implemented this year. Our partners include the Asian Development Bank, European Development Bank, World Bank, French Development Agency, Saudi Fund, and Suez Group.
These projects include the construction of over 9000 kilometers of drinking water supply pipelines, over 3000 kilometers of sewage pipelines, 18 water intake facilities, and over 30 treatment facilities.
After the completion of the project, it is expected that 4 million people will receive clean water services and over 2 million people will receive sewage treatment services. By 2030, the plan is to attract at least 40 trillion sum of investment, increase the coverage of drinking water to 90%, and increase the coverage of wastewater treatment systems to nearly 33%.Editor/Bian Wenjun
