In the era of deepening global energy cooperation and the "the Belt and Road" initiative, China Africa energy ties are getting closer and closer, and cooperation achievements are constantly pushing through the old to bring forth new ones. Recently, a significant event was held at Calub Camp in Somalia, Ethiopia. With the joint witness of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed Ali and other important leaders, as well as representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, the 200000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant of GCL Group in Ethiopia was officially put into operation. At the same time, the second phase of GCL LNG liquefaction and installation, as well as large-scale projects such as natural gas power generation and refining industry, were laid and started simultaneously. This series of actions not only presents a heavy congratulatory gift for the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ethiopia, but also becomes a clear symbol of China Africa energy cooperation reaching a new height.

The groundbreaking construction of the second phase of the GCL LNG liquefaction and dismantling project is of great significance. It will further expand production capacity on the existing basis, improve the efficiency and scale of natural gas liquefaction in Ethiopia, and enable the abundant natural gas resources in the area to be more fully utilized. The natural gas power generation project is like a 'power heart', injecting stable and clean energy into Ethiopia's power supply, effectively alleviating the local power shortage situation, and promoting industrial production and residential life towards a new stage of electrification. The refining industry project is like a key link in the industry chain, improving Ethiopia's energy landscape, realizing the transformation from natural gas to petroleum products, reducing dependence on imported petroleum products, and enhancing the confidence of national energy security.

Xie Xin Group Chairman Zhu Gongshan introduced the future plan. GCL will take the commissioning of this project as a new starting point, firmly promote the construction of the second phase LNG liquefaction plant and the Gold Refinery project, and fully assist Ethiopia in building a complete oil and gas industry chain integrating exploration, mining, pipeline transportation, liquefaction, trade and application.
